Lamas es una ciudad pintoresca ubicada en la región San Martín, en la selva alta peruana. Conocida como la «Ciudad de los tres pisos naturales» —título que le dio el sabio italiano Antonio Raimondi en el siglo XIX—, se alza entre 310 y 920 metros sobre el nivel del mar, con calles y barrios dispuestos en tres niveles que ofrecen vistas únicas del valle amazónico.

Lamas is a picturesque city in the San Martín region of Peru's high jungle. Known as the «City of the Three Natural Floors» —a title given by the Italian scholar Antonio Raimondi in the 19th century— it rises between 310 and 920 meters above sea level, with streets and neighborhoods arranged on three levels that offer unique views over the Amazonian valley.

Su identidad mezcla la herencia andina y amazónica. En el Barrio Wayku, la comunidad Kechwa-Lamista conserva su lengua quechua, su cerámica y sus fiestas tradicionales. La ciudad fue fundada por los españoles en 1656 como «El Triunfo de la Santa Cruz de los Motilones de Lamas» y hoy es la capital folclórica del Amazonas peruano: un lugar ideal para conocer cultura viva, naturaleza y gastronomía amazónica.

Its identity blends Andean and Amazonian heritage. In the Barrio Wayku, the Kechwa-Lamista community preserves its Quechua language, pottery, and traditional festivals. The city was founded by the Spanish in 1656 as «El Triunfo de la Santa Cruz de los Motilones de Lamas» and today is the folkloric capital of the Peruvian Amazon: an ideal place to experience living culture, nature, and Amazonian cuisine.
